Peptide Therapy & FDA Regulatory Status – 2026

The peptide therapy landscape is changing rapidly, and we believe our patients deserve a straight, accurate explanation of where each therapy stands today. Not vague disclaimers, not fear, just facts. Below is a current summary of the FDA regulatory status for each peptide protocol we offer at Infinity Life Center.

Sermorelin

Sermorelin has one of the strongest regulatory histories of any peptide currently offered in wellness medicine. It was FDA-approved in 1997 under the brand name Geref for growth hormone deficiency in children. The manufacturer voluntarily discontinued the commercial product in 2008 for business reasons, not due to any safety concern. Because the discontinuation was non-safety-related, sermorelin occupies a uniquely favorable legal position: it is not on any FDA restricted list, is not a controlled substance, and is legally available through licensed compounding pharmacies by physician prescription.

Our position: Sermorelin is available now. Pricing and enrollment are open.

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound)

BPC-157 has been one of the most widely studied peptides in preclinical research, with a substantial body of animal data supporting its role in tissue repair, gut healing, and inflammation reduction. In September 2023, the FDA moved BPC-157 into Category 2 of its 503A bulk substances list, restricting its use in compounding pharmacies pending further review. Effective April 23, 2026, BPC-157 was removed from Category 2, meaning the significant safety concern designation no longer applies. The FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) is scheduled to formally review BPC-157 for inclusion on the 503A Bulks List on July 23, 2026. A favorable recommendation would create a clear, legal pathway for licensed compounding pharmacies to prepare it under physician prescription.

Our position: We are monitoring the July 23 PCAC meeting closely. Pricing is temporarily suspended pending the outcome. We expect to have a clearer picture within weeks and will update this page immediately following the committee’s recommendation.

The Wolverine Stack (BPC-157 + TB-500)

The Wolverine Stack combines BPC-157 with TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4 fragment), a peptide studied for systemic tissue repair, muscle recovery, and connective tissue support. Both compounds share the same regulatory timeline: moved to Category 2 in 2023, removed from Category 2 in April 2026, and scheduled for PCAC review on July 23, 2026. Neither is currently on a restricted list; neither has yet been formally authorized for compounding under 503A.

Our position: Pricing is temporarily suspended pending the July 23 PCAC outcome. We anticipate being able to restore this protocol shortly after the committee meeting depending on the recommendation.

MOTs-C

MOTs-C is a naturally occurring mitochondrial peptide that has drawn significant research interest for its role in cellular energy regulation, insulin sensitivity, and metabolic health. It follows the same regulatory arc as BPC-157 and TB-500: Category 2 placement in 2023, removal from Category 2 in April 2026, and formal PCAC review scheduled for July 23, 2026. It is not currently prohibited but has not yet received formal compounding authorization under 503A.

Our position: Pricing is temporarily suspended pending the July 23 PCAC outcome. We will update this page promptly following the committee’s review.

GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide)

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-binding peptide found in human plasma, studied for its role in collagen synthesis, wound healing, skin repair, and hair follicle support. Injectable GHK-Cu is currently in a transitional regulatory status, having been removed from the FDA’s Category 2 restricted list and scheduled for PCAC review before February 2027. The injectable protocol we offer is pending formal 503A authorization.

Our position: Pricing is temporarily suspended pending the upcoming PCAC review. We will restore availability as soon as a clear regulatory pathway is established.

Our Approach on Peptides

We are not a gray-market operation. Every protocol we offer is physician-supervised, prescribed individually, and sourced through licensed channels. The regulatory environment around peptide therapy is actively evolving and moving in a positive direction. We are committed to keeping our patients accurately informed as that process unfolds.

Understanding Peptides in Modern Wellness

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that function as signaling molecules in the body, instructing cells to perform specific tasks. Unlike proteins, peptides are smaller and more targeted in their effects, making them ideal candidates for therapeutic use. In the context of wellness medicine, peptides are increasingly used to support the body’s natural healing processes, regulate biological functions, and optimize performance across a range of systems including immune, metabolic, neurological, and endocrine.

Their clinical appeal lies in their specificity—peptides can mimic naturally occurring signals in the body, producing physiological changes with minimal systemic disruption. As a result, they are being applied in therapies aimed at enhancing longevity, accelerating recovery, and improving quality of life in individuals seeking preventive and regenerative care.

Targeted Therapeutic Benefits

Different peptides are associated with specific wellness outcomes. For example, BPC-157 is known for promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation, while thymosin alpha-1 can modulate immune function. Other peptides like CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are commonly used to support growth hormone secretion, aiding in muscle recovery, fat metabolism, and sleep regulation. These compounds allow for highly individualized treatment strategies, often addressing issues that conventional pharmaceuticals either overlook or treat systemically with more side effects.

What are peptides?

Peptides, small chains of amino acids, have garnered significant attention in recent years for their potential to promote healing and recovery in the body. Unlike large proteins, peptides are small enough to be easily absorbed and can target specific areas of the body, making them a powerful tool in regenerative medicine and recovery therapies.
One of the most well-known benefits of peptides is their role in stimulating collagen production, which is essential for skin healing and repair. Collagen is a critical protein that maintains skin elasticity and firmness, and peptides can aid in its production, speeding up the recovery process from injuries, wounds, and surgical scars. This has led to the use of peptide-based treatments in cosmetic and reconstructive medicine, where skin healing is a priority.

Peptides and Healing: Are they Safe or FDA approved?

We at Infinity Life Center are always looking for safe, effective cutting edge technologies to help with optimizing health, wellness, and healing. At this time, many peptides are not FDA approved for regenerative medicine except in very specific cases. We look at your individual circumstances and evaluate the risk and benefits for you.

BPC-157

Peptides also have a direct impact on inflammation and muscle recovery. For instance, BPC-157, a peptide derived from a protein found in the stomach, has shown promising results in reducing inflammation, healing muscle, and regenerating tissue. Athletes and those recovering from injuries have found these peptides useful for promoting faster recovery from strains, tears, and other muscle-related issues.
Peptides offer a promising, natural approach to recovery and healing, with the ability to target specific areas of concern. As research continues, they hold great potential for broader applications in medicine.

Sermorelin and Ipamorelin

Sermorelin and Ipamorelin are synthetic peptides that stimulate the body’s natural production of growth hormone by acting on the pituitary gland. The primary benefits include enhancing muscle growth, improving recovery after exercise, and promoting fat loss. Additionally, Sermorelin can improve sleep quality, increase energy levels, and enhance cognitive function. It also supports healthy aging by boosting collagen production, leading to better skin elasticity and reduced wrinkles. Sermorelin’s ability to stimulate natural growth hormone production makes it a safer alternative to direct hormone replacement, offering anti-aging and regenerative benefits without the risks associated with synthetic growth hormone therapy.

Oxytocin

Oxytocin, often referred to as the “love hormone” or “bonding hormone,” is a powerful neuropeptide and hormone produced in the hypothalamus and released by the pituitary gland. It plays a crucial role in social bonding, emotional connection, and trust between individuals. Oxytocin is released during intimate moments such as hugging, touching, childbirth, and breastfeeding, where it helps strengthen emotional ties between partners, parents, and their children.
Beyond its role in social bonding, oxytocin has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety by lowering cortisol levels, which can create a calming effect on the body. This has made oxytocin of interest in research on mental health, particularly for conditions like anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
